An antebellum, family-owned farmhouse in Northern Alabama

History

Dating back to 1809, McVille Manor has been owned and operated by the same family, and provides the community a unique, historical location to be used for a variety of events. The 2,700 square foot home sits on close to 100 acres of both woods and open fields. The original house included only the underground dining room and the upper sitting room. Following the Civil War, three more bedrooms, a parlor, and a sitting room were added on to create its current ā€œLā€ shape.

About

The family has worked hard to preserve the historical beauty and the timeless heritage left behind by their relatives including the handmade furniture, the original wallpaper and interior decorations. Scattered around the property lie several other historic structures. The Smokehouse, being the oldest structure, was constructed from hand-hewn logs, and was used to cure meat. The Carriage house and the Commissionary, which was used as a store, are two other historic buildings that are a part of McVille Manor.
